While this page offers a quick overview, be sure to review the VA&#8217;s detailed information about these benefit types.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 33px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\">\n<summary><strong>Montgomery GI Bill\u00ae &#8211; Active Duty (Chapter 30)<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>The\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/education\/about-gi-bill-benefits\/montgomery-active-duty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Montgomery GI Bill\u00ae &#8211; Active Duty (Chapter 30)<\/a>\u00a0(MGIB-AD) benefits generally apply to eligible veterans who began active duty service for the first time after July 30, 1985, had their pay reduced by $100\/month for the first 12 months of service and received an honorable discharge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/p>\n<li>Up to 36 months of education benefits.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>Generally payable for 10 years after your release from active duty.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>VA sends funds directly to the student, who is responsible for paying the school directly for tuition and fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/details>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 33px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\">\n<summary><strong>Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program (VR&amp;E) (Chapter 31)<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/vocrehab\/eligibility_and_entitlement.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program (Chapter 31)<\/a>\u00a0assists veterans with service-connected disabilities to prepare, find and keep suitable jobs. Veterans are eligible if they:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/p>\n<li>Have a VA service-connected disability rating of 10% with a serious employment handicap or 20% or more with an employment handicap.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>Have received or will receive an honorable or other than dishonorable discharge.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>Apply for VR&amp;E services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/details>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-spacer\" style=\"height: 33px;\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\">\n<summary><strong>The Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae (Chapter 33)<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p>Eligibility for the\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/gibill\/post911_gibill.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae (Chapter 33)<\/a>\u00a0includes:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/p>\n<li>Active duty service at least 90 aggregate days after Sept. 10, 2001.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>Individuals honorably discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days of continuous service.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>For 100% of the benefit, must have continuously served an aggregate of 36 months after Sept. 10, 2001.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Effective Aug. 1, 2009, eligible participants (veterans, service members, and dependents) pursuing a VA-approved training program may receive benefits at a percentage based on length of active duty service:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/p>\n<li>Cost of tuition and fees paid directly to the school. Tuition should not exceed the most expensive public institution in-state undergraduate rate.<\/li>\n<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<li>Monthly housing allowance paid directly to the veteran or dependent. See the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.benefits.va.gov\/GIBILL\/resources\/benefits_resources\/rate_tables.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Current Rate Payments<\/a>\u00a0based on eligibility. A beneficiary must be the dependent of one of the following:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/p>\n<li>A veteran who died or is permanently and totally disabled as the result of a service-connected disability. As an NCD program, we are unable to accept benefits under the Hazlewood Exemption.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants utilizing the Chapter 33 Post 9\/11 GI Bill\u00ae are only eligible for fully in-person courses &#8211; no online or hybrid courses may accept this Benefit Chapter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What costs are covered by the VA \/ What costs will I cover out of pocket?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Costs covered depends on what VA Benefit Chapter you are using:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ch 30 and 35 &#8211; cover tuition amount that is paid directly to the student. Payment agreement with EMTS is required.<\/li>\n<li>Ch 31 &#8211; covers tuition, uniform, textbook(s), background check, and required equipment (BP cuff and stethoscope).
